Nina Carini

Matrice Ospite

The work originates from a research process focused on the lagoon landscape and its forms of unstable equilibrium, understood as liminal and fragile systems – threshold environments characterized by the continual redefinition of their boundaries and by a pronounced ecological vulnerability. The process begins with a photographic image of the landscape, which is manually incised and fragmented before being translated into a three-dimensional form through lost-wax aluminum casting. The material produces polished surfaces and continuous curves in which light becomes an active component of perception, evoking the movement of waves. The forms appear as suspended presences: open, mutable, and in a constant state of transformation. The title Matrice Ospite defines a condition of openness and receptivity, in which form is never fully resolved but remains available to be inhabited and transformed over time. The works are conceived to activate a relationship between vegetal elements and sculptural practices, bringing living and artificial matter into dialogue.

Radice

Installation, 2026
Aluminum casting based on the artist’s drawing, produced through the lost-wax casting process and finished with a mirror polish at Fonderia Artistica Battaglia. The installation incorporates vegetal, organic, and mineral elements, together with an alabaster sculpture mounted on a remnant of the same stone used in its carving process, 2026.
